Méndez returns to Alavés after two and a half years since Cruz Azul from Liga MX
The Deportivo Alavés announced this Thursday the return of Spanish player Édgar Méndez, two and a half years after leaving the LaLiga club. He has committed to the club until 2022.
The Canary Islands-born player played for the Basque team in the 2016-17 season, during which Alavés reached the final of the Copa del Rey, with Méndez scoring a crucial goal in the semi-finals. He played 33 matches for Alavés and scored eight important goals to help the team maintain its position in the top-tier and reach the final of the Copa del Rey.
Later, Cruz Azul in Mexico acquired his services by reaching an agreement with Alavés for his transfer. In the Liga MX, he scored 16 goals in 98 matches and won the Copa de México in 2018 and the Supercopa in 2019.
