The general director of Sporting Cristal, Juan José Luque, spoke about the current situation of Carlos Lobatón in the club, who will work in the lower divisions as the sports director of the reserve team. The Spanish spoke exclusively to Fútbol Como Cancha from RPP Noticias after his presentation in the celeste team.
"The decision surprised me quite a bit. Especially considering the knowledge and follow-up of these last years in his final stage at Sporting as well as in the national team. I must say that I have not been able to speak with him personally. I understand that he must continue to be a part and must be an active value in the institution for what they historically represent and what he can represent in terms of work, within the responsibilities that are being assumed," said Luque.
Likewise, the general director of Cristal stated that they will seek for Lobatón to feel good in his new position. "Hopefully in the coming days, when the meetings with all the people and teams begin, I can talk to him and he can feel how he is regarding his current position. We all know that when a player, especially someone of his stature with the involvement and impact he has had in the club's history, makes a decision like this, it is not easy. That process of acceptance is not short-term and I hope that together we can help him feel, in this situation of change, as comfortable as possible, useful, and above all, help us strengthen the project," he concluded.
Juan José Luque was presented this Thursday as the new general director of Sporting Cristal. The Spanish was in charge of the Official Football School of Barcelona in Lima, the first one to be established in South America, as the head coach in 2010.
