The Ecuadorian Olympic Committee (COE) recognizes athletes for their international achievements.

One of them was boxer Julio César Castillo, who despite not winning the gold medal in the 91 kilograms category at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games due to a controversial referee decision in the final, demonstrated his values and fair play by disapproving the booing from the public towards the winner of the fight, Cuban boxer Erislandy Savón. This action earned him the Olympic Spirit Award. Months later, he won the silver medal in the Amateur Boxing World Tournament in Russia.

The COE also recognized the career achievements of weightlifter Seledina Nieves.

In her 21 years of experience, the athlete from Esmeraldas won five continental titles in the over 75 kg division. She won the gold medal at the Guadalajara 2011 Pan American Games and finished seventh at the 2012 Olympic Games. Currently, she is the Sports Coordinator for Zone 1 in the Ministry of Sports.

Meanwhile, Carlos Quipo, with 16 years of experience in amateur boxing, has won medals at the South American and Bolivarian Games and has won the Pacific Cup title four times. He is the President of the Napo Sports Federation, where he supports his former athletes. (D)
