Ante la incertidumbre sobre la continuidad del portero Esteban Dreer, a quien la directiva de Emelec solo le ofreció renovar por una temporada más, Pedro Ortiz is the first option to reinforce the goal of the millionaires.
"On previous occasions there was interest from Emelec to sign Ortiz and it always got complicated in the last part, which was to agree with the board. This time everything is agreed between clubs," said Lizando Torres, representative of the goalkeeper champion with Delfín in this season of the Liga Pro.
"There is an agreement, everything is on track, there are a few formalities to fulfill. When all those steps are completed, it will be made official through Emelec. That is the protocol the team follows," added Torres in a dialogue with radio Huancavilca.
He also detailed: "There are policies in Emelec that must be fulfilled and I respect that. I tell the Emelec fans to be calm. When the wills are willing, everything can be achieved. There has always been a desire for new challenges in Ortiz."
The 29-year-old goalkeeper, who is part of the renewal process in the Tricolor, made his debut in 2009 in the Ecuadorian Serie A defending Deportivo Azogues; and in 2016 he made the leap to Delfín, the club with which he played 47 matches this year (including Liga Pro, Ecuador Cup, and the Libertadores Cup), totaling 4,230 minutes.
