A controversial penalty called in the match between Liverpool and Flamengo resulted in a pause in the game for almost four minutes. The final of the 2019 Club World Cup was played at the International Khalifa Stadium in Doha, Qatar.

In the 90+1 minute, Liverpool was heading to finish the match with a great attack. Sadio Mané was chosen to finish the play, but Rafinha slid in to prevent it. However, the Senegalese player ended up on the ground and the referee immediately called a penalty. After the complaints and the VAR communication, the referee went to review the images and finally decided it was not a foul.

The winning goal for Liverpool was scored by Roberto Firmino at the 9th minute of the first extra time. The Brazilian received a great pass into the Flamengo's penalty area, finding himself face to face with goalkeeper Diego Alves. However, Firmino shot powerfully to put the only goal of the match.

Liverpool defeated Flamengo 1-0 in the grand final of the Club World Cup. The 'Reds' won their first title in this tournament. The champions of the 2018-19 Champions League are now world champions.
