Borussia Dortmund achieved a 2-1 victory on Tuesday, securing their spot in the Champions League round of 16. They faced a determined Slavia Prague team that gave their all despite having nothing at stake, and caused difficulties for the German team.

Borussia Dortmund had a good start and took the lead in the 10th minute through Jadon Sancho, but then wasted two clear chances, both in Marco Reus' feet.

In addition, they allowed a lot in defense, which gave strength to Slavia, who started producing series of arrivals until Soucek equalized in the 43rd minute.

Just seconds before Sancho's goal, Slavia had a great opportunity with a header from Olayinka which goalkeeper Roman Bürki reacted to with a great save.

The much-needed tranquility seemed to come immediately for the home team when Julian Brandt played a deep pass to Reus, who, after reaching the area, crossed to Sancho who scored. But Dortmund suffered until the end.

Reus missed the second goal twice, one on one against goalkeeper Kolar, first in the 15th minute after a long pass from Mats Hummels, and then in the 23rd minute after a ball recovery.

At the back, Bürki had to put out fires with several good saves, including an incredible reflex save in the 34th minute against a shot from Masopust that hit Hummels and changed direction.

Slavia, who had nothing to lose, frequently reached the area and gave spaces to Dortmund, who, however, stopped creating dangerous situations in attack.

Soucek equalized the balance just before halftime and Dortmund managed to calm things down a bit at the beginning of the second half. In the first notable offensive play, they took the lead again in the 61st minute through Brandt, who scored inside the area with a shot to the near post after receiving a pass from Sancho.

Slavia continued to have chances, Bürki had to keep putting out fires, and from the 77th minute, Dortmund was reduced to 10 men after Julian Weigl's expulsion.

Only at the moment of the final whistle - the ball just passed by the post of Bürki's goal - Dortmund could be sure of the victory.
