GUADALAJARA -- Chivas defender Antonio Briseño suffered a sprained left ankle just as he returned to the field after serving his four-match suspension.
Although it has not been officially confirmed, club sources assured ESPN that the defender will miss the rest of the 2019 Apertura season.
Briseño appeared as a starter in the match against Toluca in the Sub-20 category, played in Metepec. The 'Pollo' got injured and left the field at halftime in that game. Precisely in that match, the defender returned after serving a four-match suspension. The Disciplinary Commission punished him for a strong blow to Giovani dos Santos in the Clásico against América at the Estadio Azteca.
Briseño went to have the corresponding studies done on Monday morning. It is expected that a statement will be issued by the organization in the afternoon to confirm the extent of the injury and the time he will be sidelined.
