María José López, captain of the women's team of Puebla club, documented the unusual incident that she and her teammates experienced on the eve of the match against Cruz Azul for matchday 17 of the Liga MX Femenil.
"We had to show the upper part of our underwear even without wearing tights under the shorts, which we consider a lack of respect for our privacy, knowing that the fourth referee was a man," said the defender of the Mexican team through social media, exposing the "uncomfortable incident" that the players went through in order to "prevent this from happening again".
Puebla supported its players after López's statement and requested a response from the organizers of the Mexican tournament.
"In our organization, we value fair play on and off the field, therefore, we disapprove of any action that goes against the philosophy of Fair Play. That is why we will ask Liga MX Femenil to open an investigation related to the events," the institution highlighted in a statement.
We call for this type of action to not happen again @LigaBBVAFemenil. pic.twitter.com/ahaCylS2Hx
