Followers of Richard Palomino received terrible news just as the pilot finished his participation in Caminos del Inca 2019: he had suffered an accident that caused him to leave the race. Just a few meters from the finish line located in Pucchun, the Peruvian's vehicle overturned due to a puncture in its rear left tire.

The mentioned tire exploded and Richard Palomino's car rolled over after this incident. However, luckily both the pilot and co-pilot came out unharmed from this alarming accident. In the end, the Peugeot 208 that he was driving was not in condition to continue in Caminos del Inca.

Richard Palomino was the leader of the overall standings in the Caminos del Inca until this incident and was poised to be crowned as the winner of this competition. In the end, Luis Alayza was responsible for finishing this race in first place.

In addition to Alayza, another candidate to win this edition of the Caminos del Inca was Víctor Cárdenas. Even, the Arequipa native was initially declared the winner, having arrived at the finish line before everyone else, but it was confirmed that he had not fulfilled a control time.
