Francisco Arce, former Albirroja coach, commented this Tuesday on the criticism directed at defender Junior Alonso for his performance against Slovakia during the second Paraguayan National Team friendly.
He pointed out that it is not the first time that people gather to discuss the level of the Boca player. "When I was at Cerro, he had that against him from the fans, especially from a section of the stands that always pursued him. Then he opened up through his performance and ended up earning his place," he recalled.
"He earned his spot, I believe that nobody gives anything for him to play where he played, where he is now. Obviously, during the national team's time, there is little room to fix the mistakes one makes, or the near mistakes," added the current Nacional coach.

GUILTY. Arce, who claims to know the athlete's temperament, character, and strength well, said in an interview with Fútbol a lo Grande (Monumental 1080 AM) that everything is magnified because of social media.
"Currently, in this time of the garbage that is social media, everything becomes a trend and everyone ends up talking about one person and it takes time to remove the mark from one's back even if the mistakes are corrected," he concluded.
Junior Alonso, 26 years old, started his career at the Barrio Obrero club. He made his debut in the top category in 2013. Before joining Boca Juniors, the defender, who plays as a center-back and left-back, played for French club Lille and Spanish club Celta. Both clubs are in the top division.
