"I know what it's like to be an elite player. I am very happy and I don't have those problems," Courtois replied to the press, when asked if he had suffered from anxiety issues after the Champions League match against Club Brugge with Real Madrid, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

After the "Red Devils" victory of 9-0 against San Marino, which secured Belgium's qualification for Euro 2020, the goalkeeper pointed out that the white club has already denied those alleged anxiety issues and asked the media for "responsibility not to spread lies and nonsense about these things because in the end there are people who genuinely suffer from these problems."

The goalkeeper, who didn't have to make a single save in the match, asked for "responsibility and respect" from the media before speculating about possible clinical conditions.

"I think it's disrespectful to the player and to the people who genuinely suffer from that," said the Belgian international of Real Madrid.

Courtois stated that he feels "content and happy, training hard" and eager to bring joy to the Santiago Bernabeu audience.

"The Bernabeu crowd is always critical, we know that, and we will do everything with the team so that they also start applauding," added Courtois.

About the physical problems that forced him to be substituted at halftime in the match against Club Brugge and prevented him from participating in the 4-2 victory against Granada, where Alphonse Areola took his place, he said he is completely recovered now.

"I feel good now. It was a very strong flu and it wasn't pleasant but now I am recovered. I was able to train on Monday and Tuesday almost the whole time with the team and yesterday I did everything. I feel strong again, as I had lost quite a few kilos as well. Now I am fully recovered and feeling well," he commented.

Courtois has only conceded one goal in the Euro qualification phase, in a mistake against Russia last March, when he tried to dribble out of the area with the ball at his feet, lost it, and Denis Cheryshev scored into an empty net.

The Real Madrid goalkeeper is a regular starter in the Belgian national team led by Roberto Martinez, where the backup goalkeeper, Simon Mignolet, has not played a single international match since October 2015.
