Manchester City targets Youcef Atal as Cancelo struggles

At the beginning of last August, Manchester City announced the signing of Joao Cancelo. The footballer, who cost 65 M€, landed at the Etihad Stadium to cover the absence of Danilo and, especially, to stimulate the competitiveness of the almost untouchable Kyle Walker.

Although only a couple of months have passed since his arrival, the coach of the Citizens, the Catalan Pep Guardiola, does not seem to be completely satisfied with his performance. The fact that he has hardly participated in six official matches to date or that he has only been a starter in one Premier League match is a good sign that the Portuguese has not managed to gain the full trust of the coach.

Perhaps that is why it is also not surprising that some media outlets are beginning to speculate about the future arrival of a new wing-back. Specifically, it is the website CalcioMercato.com that claims that Santpedor's coach has already set his sights on Youcef Atal (23 years old), an Algerian full-back who plays for Nice.

Forged in his country's Paradou AC, the defender spent a season at Belgian side KV Kortrijk before landing at the French Riviera club (in 2018). Since then, the North African player has maintained a remarkable progression, allowing him to accumulate 37 official matches (7 goals and 1 assist) and attract the attention of a good number of clubs on the continent. In addition to City, other teams such as PSG or Chelsea are also following his footsteps.
