Victor Valdés sacked as coach of Barcelona's youth team

The tenure of Victor Valdés, one of the best goalkeepers in Barcelona's history, as coach of the youth team has only lasted two and a half months, as he was dismissed from his position on Monday.

Valdés will be replaced by Franc Artiga, who was previously the coach of the B youth team and has had various responsibilities in La Masia since 2010.

The differences in criteria between Valdés and the directors of Barcelona's youth football, especially with Patrick Kluivert, director of youth football, with whom he had a strong argument last Friday, have led to this decision.

The coach, who had arrived from Moratalaz's youth team in mid-July, did not lead his team in their match against Gimnàstic de Tarragona last Saturday. EFE
