Pep Guardiola praises River Plate coach Marcelo Gallardo
The Spanish Pep Guardiola praised the current coach of River Plate, Marcelo Gallardo. The Manchester City coach stated during an interview that what the Argentine professional has achieved is incredible and said he didn't understand why he is not nominated for awards.
"What Gallardo has done with River is incredible in terms of results, consistency...year after year. Players leave and he is still there. There are things that I can't explain, we have three coaches nominated for Coach of the Year and he is never included," he said.
"It seems that only Europe exists in the world. I don't understand how Gallardo is not nominated among the best coaches in the world. Not just for one year, but for such a long time," he added.
At another moment, Guardiola expressed a personal desire. "I hope one day I can face his teams. It would be very nice," he said in conversations with TNT Sports.
Pep revealed that he went to see the Madrid final, which took place at the Santiago Bernabeu and was in favor of the River Plate team. But the Catalan has already been to the Monumental stadium before and pointed out that he has the pending task of attending La Bombonera.
"I was in a classic match, years ago, at River's stadium; I have never been to Boca's stadium. I hope before I get older I can attend, I would really like that. Classics are classics anywhere," he concluded.
