Antonio Briseño protagonized one of the most regrettable incidents last weekend after injuring Giovani dos Santos in Chivas de Guadalajara's 4-1 defeat to América. With a strong kick, the 'Pollo' exposed part of the bone tissue of the former Los Angeles Galaxy player and earned a red card in the 37th minute because of that foul.
As a result of this incident, Antonio Briseño received all kinds of criticism from América's fans and all Liga MX followers were waiting for the sanction that the Disciplinary Committee would impose on him. Finally, this entity decided to suspend the Chivas de Guadalajara defender for four matches, and he will be able to play again in round 17 of the Apertura Tournament.
For many, this punishment for Antonio Briseño is much less than what he should have received. Taking into consideration that Giovani dos Santos will be away from the field for at least six months, a greater sanction was requested for the 25-year-old defender.
Therefore, Antonio Briseño will miss Chivas de Guadalajara's matches against Pumas, Monterrey, FC Juárez, and Tijuana. At the moment, the 'Rebaño' is in 17th place in the Liga MX Apertura Tournament with only 11 points.
