The only goal of the match came in the 85th minute, scored by Luis Abram, who headed in perfectly inside the area, next to the left post of the goal defended by Ederson, after receiving an assist from Yoshimar Yotún from a free-kick.

The victory, the fifth in Peru's history against Brazil, who had beaten them in the Copa America final by 3-1, turned Abram into the hero of the match and confirmed that the team coached by Argentine Ricardo Gareca continues to grow.

Just when it was thought that the friendly match was going to end with a fair 0-0 draw, both teams had opportunities to score. Peru's winning goal arrived, and they were always involved in a match that had the spirit of a revenge from start to finish.

Gareca's team knew how to strike at the right moment and secured an important victory, giving them morale and confidence in preparation for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The goalless draw at the end of the first half made Brazilian coach Tite decide to go all out in the second half, bringing in Neymar after an hour of play - whom he had rested after playing the full match against Colombia on Friday - and later Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr, who made his debut in the 74th minute, replacing Richarlison.

The order was to break the solid defensive line set up by the Argentine coach Ricardo Gareca, which Brazil failed to do throughout the ninety minutes of play because this time the "Tigre" outwitted them with excellent pressing tactics, leaving Brazil with no room to maneuver.

As the match entered the final stretch, Yotún delivered a great cross that found Abram well positioned. He beat Ederson to the ball and scored a header that secured a golden victory for Peruvian football.

Furthermore, with this victory, Gareca became the first coach of the Peruvian national team to defeat Brazil on two occasions.

The only negative note of the match, which was played in front of over 40,000 spectators, was the injury of Carlos Zambrano, who had to be replaced in the 69th minute by Ánderson Santamaría, who also performed admirably in defense.
