Last Thursday, various Spanish media outlets revealed the special clause in Lionel Messi's contract with FC Barcelona, which specifies that the player can decide at the end of each season whether or not he will continue to be a part of the club.
In this regard, the board of FC Barcelona is concerned about what Messi might decide halfway through next year. According to Quim Domenech, there are "cold sweats" within the Blaugrana hierarchy because they cannot imagine Barça without him.
At Camp Nou, they hope to continue counting on the Argentine for many more years. In fact, negotiations for a new contract, Messi's last as a Culé, will begin in November of this year.
"They have called the Messis several times to say, 'Whenever you want, wherever you want, however you want, let's sit down and start talking. Ten years and however many you want on the table'," Domenech points out that Barcelona has communicated to Lionel's entourage.

Gerard Piqué is not worried
Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué stated that he is not concerned at all about the possibility of Lionel Messi leaving, following the reports about the Argentine star's contract with Barcelona, which allows him to leave at the end of each season if he decides so.
"I knew this possibility existed, but well, we know the commitment that Leo has had with Barcelona all these years and I'm not worried at all," Piqué said early Friday morning in an interview with radio Cadena Ser.
