Rosbil Guillén never imagined being recognized for his achievements in such a short time. He has been in para athletics for less than a year and already has a gold medal in the 2019 Parapan American Games. But that's not all he achieved, as his victory earned him the ticket to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games and the Dubai Para Athletics World Championships, to be held in November.
Two years ago he couldn't imagine being in everyone's lips. He never thought he would achieve such remarkable triumphs so quickly, because he just started training with greater interest since last January, when he decided to travel to Huancayo to work with Sunil Serna, who was training Efraín Sotacuro.
In a few months, they realized his abilities and he earned the right to participate in the Parapan American Games, where he surprised everyone by winning the competition in the 1500 meters, T11 category (visual disability). It was Peru's first gold medal and with it came better news.
Thanks to his times in the competition, the Peruvian Paralympic National Association, presided over by Lucha Villar, informed him that his next challenges will be the Dubai Para Athletics World Championships and the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

"Thanks to God they told us that we will be in the Dubai World Championships and the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. I will compete in the 1500 and 500 meters, along with my guide Rio Ferdinand Cereceda, but this time we will be together until the end," said a very happy Rosbil Guillén.
"I feel a lot of happiness, especially when they told me that I won the gold in the 1500. I really expected it a year ago. I once dreamed of winning a medal and it happened. We worked hard to recover the medal we lost in the 5000, although I don't consider it a revenge," he said.
"All these triumphs are thanks to my guides (runs with Carlos Gálvez and Rio Ferdinand Cereceda, with whom he won the 5000 and 1500). I like para athletics and that's why I decided to train (I also played 5-a-side football). It is an honor to represent my country and that's why I feel so much joy in winning a medal," he concluded.
As you may recall, Peru - thanks to Rosbil Guillén - won a gold medal in the Parapan American Games after 12 years, when in Rio 2007, Jimmy Eulert won three gold medals in the 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, and 50m backstroke, in para swimming.
