Persistence award. Rosbil Guillén found a personal revenge this Wednesday at the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games after winning the first Peruvian gold medal in the sports event.
The Huancaíno para athlete had a outstanding performance in the men's final of the 1500 meters, T11 category (visual impairment), finishing second in the decisive race held at the Videna Athletic Stadium. However, the disqualification of Ecuadorian Darwin Castro benefited him and he ended up in the first place on the podium of the discipline.
Thanks to his effort, Peru improved its medal count in the Parapan American Games, where it currently has a total of six medals: one gold, three silver, and two bronze.
In this way, Rosbil Guillén relieves the frustration he experienced last Saturday when he won the 5000 meters final (T11) but was disqualified for a rule violation.
