The Peruvian 7-a-side football team couldn't beat Brazil at the Villa María del Triunfo Sports Complex (they lost 10-0), but the fact that they participated in these Lima 2019 Parapan American Games and gave their all for the country is already a dream come true.
That's why, after the match, the team members were seen very emotional in the dressing room. "How could I not love you? How could I not love you? If you are my beloved Peru, the blessed country that saw me born," the national team sings in a video posted on Twitter by the National Paralympic Association of Peru.
For many of the national para-football players, it is their first participation in an event of this magnitude and they haven't made their debut against just any team. They have done it against a regional powerhouse like the Brazilian team.
Peru's next opponents in 7-a-side football will be Colombia, Venezuela, Argentina, and the United States. The guys have a tough challenge ahead, but it is a fact that they will give everything to raise the name of Peru.
