Ricardo Gareca decided to give Carlos Ascues a second chance, who had not been considered for the Peruvian National Team since 2016. Along with the midfielder, Claudio Pizarro and Juan Manuel Vargas are also included in the list.
The last time Claudio Pizarro was included in the starting eleven of the Peruvian National Team was for the Russia 2018 qualifiers match against Uruguay in 2016. The 'Andean Bomber' was substituted and could not complete the match.
In the case of Juan Manuel Vargas, he only played one match for the Peruvian National Team in the qualifiers. The defender played against Venezuela in the 2-2 draw at the National Stadium.
On the other hand, the Peruvian National Team will return to the field when they face Ecuador and Brazil in the FIFA friendly matches next month in the United States.
