Paulo Díaz had the possibility of making his long-awaited debut for River Plate on Thursday, in the match against Cerro Porteño, for the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores. However, the Chilean defender had to settle for watching the entire match, in which the millonario team won 2-0, from the bench.
But the Chilean national team player already has a set date for his debut in the red-band team, since coach Marcelo Gallardo confirmed that the national center-back will see action in the match this Sunday against Talleres de Córdoba for the Superliga, where an alternative team will be presented.
"It is very likely that Paulo Díaz will play on Sunday against Talleres. Just like several other players who did not play today," the coach admitted in a press conference after the victory against the Paraguayans.
The idea of the "Muñeco" would be to use an alternative team thinking about the rematch against the Paraguayans in Asunción, next Thursday, to secure their place in the semifinals of the continental tournament, in which Franco Armani would remain in goal, Javier Pinola could return, already recovered from the injury, Enzo Pérez would be there, suspended in the Copa, and the attacking duo Scocco-Pratto.
