Chelsea 1 - 1 Leicester City
Chelsea took to the field with the firm intention of forgetting the blow of the first matchday in the Premier League at Old Trafford, where they fell 4-0 to Manchester United. In addition, last Wednesday they lost on penalties to Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup final, but the performance was really positive. The team led by Frank Lampard started strong, with Pedro Rodriguez having a chance that hit the side of the net.
Shortly after, Kasper Schmeichel had to intervene in a double opportunity for Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic, as well as testing his luck from a corner kick. The first goal of the match came in the 6th minute, when Mount took advantage of a tremendous error in the ball's distribution from the back by Wilfred Ndidi. The Chelsea youngster remained calm and sent the ball straight into the back of the net (1-0).

Ricardo Pereira would have his reply moments later with a great individual action, but Jamie Vardy could not take advantage of his teammate's pass as he executed a poor touch on the ball. Chelsea would then create a chance through a combination between Pedro and Cesar Azpilicueta, whose ball was headed by goal-scorer Mount, but it went straight into the hands of Schmeichel. N'Golo Kante also had an opportunity, thanks to an assist from Olivier Giroud, but the midfielder's shot went wide due to a providential block by Christian Fuchs.
Kepa Arrizabalaga, who had been virtually a mere spectator in the first half-hour of the match, came close to a very unfortunate action with Vardy. Luckily for the Spanish goalkeeper, he managed to correct himself and clear the danger from his domain. The first half didn't offer much more, although Leicester City started the second half with determination. Vardy had a clear one-on-one chance against Kepa, in which the former Athletic Club player made a sensational save. However, the British striker was in an offside position.
James Maddison, who had been absent in the first 45 minutes, came really close to taking advantage of a one-on-one situation with Kepa, and then Mount prevented Youri Tielemans from scoring the goal. Next, Giroud attempted a header, but he couldn't give it enough power and it was easily saved by Schmeichel. Alarm bells rang for the home fans when Pedro was in pain on the ground after a collision with Tielemans, but the Canary Islands native was able to continue on the field.
The next opportunities for Leicester came from Hamza Choudhury and Maddison, but they couldn't level the match. Shortly after, Fuchs delivered a cross that became dangerous after touching Azpilicueta. In fact, from the resulting corner kick, the equalizer came (1-1), scored by Ndidi. Furthermore, the 22-year-old Nigerian was able to make up for the glaring mistake in the goal scored by Mount.
Maddison, who became a real nightmare for Chelsea's defense, had a golden opportunity to turn the match around. However, his shot went over Kepa's crossbar. Vardy also tried, slightly from the left, but his shot missed the mark. Willian, who came on as a substitute for Pulisic, made an incursion on the left flank of the attack by the reigning Europa League champions. However, his effort didn't come to fruition.
Chelsea suffered greatly from fatigue due to the exertion they had in the UEFA Super Cup final against Liverpool. Leicester had a golden chance, through Tielemans, to take all 3 points from their visit to Stamford Bridge. However, the shot from the former AS Monaco player was blocked by the defense initially, and then by a very confident Kepa. Therefore, the points were shared between both teams, with Chelsea still not achieving a win in an official match under Lampard's management.
