¡Peru celebrates its tenth gold in Lima 2019!
Kevin Martinez gave the red and white team a new gold medal by defeating Argentine Guillermo Osorio 2-0 in the individual Peruvian fronton final, closing Peruvian participation in this discipline attached to the modality of Basque pelota.
Kevin Martinez showed great superiority over his opponent, whom he had already defeated in the previous round. He won the first set clearly, with a score of 15-6 in 8 minutes, and the second set ended with a score of 15-11 in 9 minutes, allowing him to climb to the top of the podium.
With this achievement, Kevin Martinez has given Peru its tenth gold medal and the 33rd overall, bringing it very close to Chile, which is currently in eighth place.
Saturday was a perfect day for Peruvian fronton, as they won both finals they competed in. First with Claudia Suarez and then with Martinez, two gold medals that make the Peruvian representatives the first in the history of this sport to win the gold medal at the Pan American Games.
