In one of Claudio Pizarro's first official matches of the season, the Peruvian forward scored a brace in Werder Bremen's 6-1 victory against Atlas Delmenhorst, playing a key role in his team's successful start to the tournament.
Pizarro came on as a substitute for Japanese player Yuya Osako at the 65th minute mark and scored his first goal of the match just three minutes later, assisted by Niclas Füllkrug.
Then, at the 74th minute, he completed his excellent performance with a powerful long-range shot, sealing the final result at 6-1. At the end of the match, Pizarro was chosen as the 'Player of the Match'.
