Claudia Suárez and Kevin Martínez are unstoppable in the qualifying phase and are two games away from reaching the finals of Peruvian Fronton at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games.

They are unstoppable. Claudia Suárez and Kevin Martínez defeated their opponents in their second qualifying match for the final of Peruvian Fronton, a discipline of Basque Ball making its debut at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games.

This sport started on Sunday, August 4, in the women's and men's categories, where five countries, including Peru, compete against each other to qualify for the final. Claudia and Kevin have won their second match with a wide margin.

Claudia was the first to compete, defeating her opponent, Argentine Melina Spahn, in two sets to zero. She won the first set 15-9 and the second 15-8. Meanwhile, Kevin remains unbeatable, winning both sets with a significant lead (15-4 and 15-3) against Mexican Isaac Pérez.

The Peruvian representatives are fighting for a spot in the Fronton final, which will be held on Saturday, August 10. There are two pending matches: Claudia against Venezuela and Chile, which will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. Meanwhile, Kevin will compete against United States and Argentina.

Peru is a powerhouse in Fronton, as it is a sport that originated in our country. However, this is the first time it has been included in the Pan American Games, and it is expected that the gold medals will stay at home.
