Sebastián Beccacece, coach of Independiente de Avellaneda, confirmed that there was an approach by the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) regarding his link with the Argentine club, in light of the imminent departure of coach Hernán Darío Gómez.
Beccacece, who was an assistant to Jorge Sampaoli and arrived with him at Emelec in 2010, is currently in the country since this Thursday his team faces Universidad Católica in Quito, in the rematch of the Copa Sudamericana round of 16.

"The thing with the (Ecuadorian) national team was a rumor, a call, an intention, but my present is Independiente, I don't have any (rescission) clause," said the Argentine strategist.
"I'm very well here, I'm focused on Independiente, the truth is I want to respect my contract," added Beccacece.
On Tuesday morning, Francisco Egas, president of the Ecuafútbol, confirmed that the entity is negotiating with Gómez to terminate his contract with the national team. (D)
