After 90 minutes of action in which they were able to score against Nahuel Guzmán's goal, the Eagles had to wait until the penalty shootout to lift the trophy thanks to a great performance by goalkeeper Agustín Marchesín, who saved three shots and scored the winning goal in sudden death.

The Eagles reached six Champion of Champions titles, the second most in history, only behind their archrival Guadalajara, who hasn't won in this instance since 1970.
This was América's first trophy since 2005 when they defeated Pumas 2-1 and their first appearance since 2015 when they lost to Santos Laguna. It was the fourth final between Tigres and América since 2014, with a favorable outcome for the Eagles with three victories (Apertura 2014, CONCACAF 2016, and Champion of Champions 2019) to Tigres' one (Apertura 2016).
The coach Miguel Herrera tied Raúl Cárdenas and Jorge Vieira as the most successful managers in the club's history, with four titles.

With the title, América secured their place in the Campeones Cup against Atlanta United, which will take place on August 14th at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
For Tigres, the defeat meant that they couldn't make history by winning their fourth consecutive Champion of Champions trophy, settling for three and tying Chivas' historic record (1952-1962).
On the other hand, Cruz Azul won their first Supercopa MX in history after beating Necaxa 4-0, the largest margin in this instance, to add their 21st title in the club's history.
Necaxa failed in their attempt to repeat as Supercopa champions, joining Morelia as champions who lose the final the following year.
