Turkey achieved an important victory in their visit to the Czech Republic on matchday 9 of the Euro 2016 Qualifiers and almost secured their spot in the tournament next year. In the process, they practically eliminated the Netherlands, who won 2-1 against Kazakhstan.

The Netherlands hoped for a draw or a loss by Turkey to increase their chances of qualifying for the Euro. However, that did not happen. Selcuk Inan (62'), through a penalty, and Hakan Calhanoglu scored the goals for the Turks at the Generali Arena in Prague.

With 15 points, Turkey grabbed the third place, which allows them to play in the playoffs for qualification. The Netherlands is one spot below, with 13 points, and waiting to see what the Turks and the Dutch can do in the final matchday.

The Netherlands and Turkey will play their last matchday on Tuesday at 1:45 p.m. Turkey will host Iceland, who have already qualified. Meanwhile, Danny Blind's team will do the same against the Czech Republic. The 'Orange' must win and hope that the Turks don't.

The preview

The Turkish National Team will have a tough test this Saturday on matchday 9 of the Euro 2016 Qualifiers when they face the already qualified Czech Republic (1:45pm Peruvian time). This match will take place at the Generali Arena.

The Turkish team, which has Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan as their main player, needs a victory against the Czech Republic and for the Netherlands not to win to secure their place in the playoffs to qualify for the tournament in French soil.

Turkey is currently in third place in Group A with 12 points, two more than the Dutch team. The Dutch squad has struggled in their recent matches and a victory for the Turks would eliminate them from the race.

Another team that has already secured their spot in France 2016, alongside the Czech Republic, is the Iceland national team. In September of last year, they defeated the Turks 3-0 at home.
