The Roma announces the signing of Spanish goalkeeper Pau López
On Wednesday, Roma announced the permanent signing of Spanish goalkeeper Pau López, who joins the Italian club from Real Betis for 23.5 million euros. "The Club announces that it has signed, on a permanent basis, from Real Betis, the rights to the sports performance of player Pau López, in exchange for a fixed fee of 23.5 million euros," reads the official statement from Roma. "The player has signed a contract until June 30, 2024," adds the club. Pau López, 24, became the most expensive goalkeeper in Roma's history and was chosen by the sports management for his great technical abilities, which are fundamental for the style of play that Portuguese coach Paulo Fonseca wants to execute. The Spanish goalkeeper arrives in Rome after playing for Real Betis, Espanyol, and Tottenham Hotspur and will be the starting goalkeeper ahead of Antonio Mirante. "It is almost impossible to say no to a club like Roma. It is a step forward in my career. I am happy for the trust that this great team has given me. I feel ready for this new challenge," said Pau López. EFE
