The Argentina National Team achieved qualification to the semifinals of the 2019 Copa America after defeating Venezuela 2-0, but the captain of the 'Albiceleste', Lionel Messi, was not completely satisfied. Lionel Messi is in search of his first title with the Argentina National Team, but that did not stop him from admitting that it has not been his best tournament: "It hasn't been my best Copa America". However, he has confidence in what the Albiceleste team can do as a whole: "there is a very good group of guys, beyond football. We have built a very nice group on a human level".
Lionel Messi also acknowledged that the team is in optimal conditions for the South American classic against Brazil: "We are in great shape to face Brazil," he declared.
"It is difficult to speak about favoritism between Argentina and Brazil, especially in this Copa America, where anyone can beat anyone. We respect them, we know what Brazil stands for, especially being the hosts. They have been working hard, it was difficult for them to advance, but they have players who can make a difference," added Lionel Messi.
