Michael Phelps

Michael Phelps is considered the greatest athlete of all time. The retired American swimmer is the most decorated athlete in history, with a staggering 28 Olympic medals. But this week, a little 'superhero' has threatened to take away his crown.

Clark Kent Apuada

Clark Kent Apuada (yes, the same name as Superman) is only ten years old and lives in Monterey County, California. This week, the young swimmer won the 100m butterfly competition at the Far West International Championship, clocking in at a time of 1:09.38.

Thus, Clark Kent surpassed Michael Phelps' record by over a second in this same tournament, but in the 1995 edition. And with just four years of competing, this swimming prodigy has already become quite a sensation in local tournaments.

"This kid is unlike any other young person I have trained. He has always stood out," said his coach to CNN. But according to Chris Apuada, Clark Kent's father, his son's talent goes beyond sports.

"He takes piano lessons, he does martial arts, and at school he participates in computer classes, coding, and STEM programs," he explained. However, Clark Kent takes the great achievements he has been accomplishing with great calmness.

"I love swimming because I have a lot of people who support me. My coaches and my parents are always there for me," said the new swimming star, who dreams of becoming an Olympic medalist.
