According to FIFA, Russia 2018 was the most participative World Cup in history. The organization recorded over 7 million interactions on all FIFA digital platforms during the tournament.
FIFA celebrated this historic record with a photo of the Peruvian fan. Peru was one of the countries that brought the most fans to the Russia 2018 World Cup. They brought over 30,000 fanatics, making it one of the largest contingents of fans from Latin America in the sporting event.
FIFA also reported that 43,583 tickets for the three matches of the Peruvian National Team were sold to Peruvians. Some quit their jobs, others took out bank loans.

One of the anecdotes that marked the World Cup was that a group of Peruvian fans had to pay $800 for a taxi ride in Moscow after missing their flight, just to be able to attend Peru's debut match against Denmark.
"What the Peruvians did in the World Cup was incredible," highlighted Ricardo Gareca in the last match of Peru, which they won against Australia.
