Croatia's Generosity
French forward Kylian Mbappé garnered numerous accolades not only for winning the World Cup with France at the age of 19, but also because it was known that he will donate the prize money he receives to an association for hospitalized children.
This good example has been replicated in Croatia, their opponent in the final of Russia 2018. The difference is that the act of selflessness will not come from just one player, but from the entire team (including the coaching staff).
The website of the Spanish newspaper As shared a letter written by coach Zlatko Dalic (shared on social media prior to the celebrations in Zagreb), confirming that they will donate the money they receive (around 23 million euros) for reaching the final stage of the World Cup to a foundation for Croatian children.
"The whole team informs that it will donate the World Cup prizes to a foundation for Croatian children. This foundation will fund summer vacations for those children who have never seen the Adriatic Sea. The members of the Croatian football team are with the Croatian people and will do what they can to help them, beyond victories. All Croatian children will have the opportunity to spend at least seven days on the Croatian coast. It is the least we can do for the most vulnerable," said the head coach.
