Transfer News: Valencia pursues Fosu Mensah and Filip Kostic
The back and forth in the market can lead Valencia to reconsider two possible candidates to join the Turia city whose names had faded into the background. The first of them is within one of the most prominent needs in Marcelino García Toral's squad, which is the right-back position.
Such is the case of Fosu Mensah (20 years old, Manchester United), whom Súper Deporte brings back into the scene for Valencia, reevaluating this option due to the difficulties posed by Atalanta in signing their preferred right-back, Hans Hateboer. The presumed €15M demanded by the Bergamo club limit Valencia's maneuverability, as they are not willing to meet such expectations. As an alternative, the name of Cristiano Piccini is also being considered, as suggested by Jorge Mendes, and Sporting Portugal is reportedly looking for his departure.
Filip Kostic, a past desire
A more distant interest, linked during the previous summer to the 17/18 season, is once again on Valencia's agenda. According to Bild, Valencia has not forgotten about the left winger from Hamburg, and the interest would make sense considering the unpredictability of the signing of Gonçalo Guedes. If Guedes is unable to join the white and black team during the 18/19 season, the club must look for alternatives, with Filip Kostic being a well-known option who, at 25 years old, is considered suitable for that role.
However, to secure the signing of the Serbian player, Valencia will have to contend with the interest from Southampton and Sporting Portugal, as they would be keen to acquire a player who seeks to leave the German team due to his unwillingness to spend a season in the German second division.
