Novelties. Daniel Angelici, first vice president of the Argentine Football Association (AFA), explained today that the directors will decide at the end of this month whether to ratify Jorge Sampaoli as the coach of the Argentine national team and that "it is a possibility" that the coach resigns.
"I was the one who pushed the most for Sampaoli's arrival but today, because of things that happened and I did not like, I would not sign a five-year contract with him again. Never before has so much money been invested in a process. But we will make the decision at the end of the month with the AFA leadership," Angelici said to TyC Sports.
Angelici revealed that the decision will be made jointly by the directors of the Argentine Football Association. However, he revealed that "it is a possibility" that Sampaoli resigns before the meeting.
"The easiest thing is to sit down, arrange a departure, and look for a new path. We saw Sampaoli eager to continue and seeking revenge, but he said that if we decided that he should leave, he would not put economic obstacles," he added.
Angelici considered that the directors of the AFA should also have "a very big self-criticism" and "analyze if there was a coaching problem in Argentina."
