Erick Delgado will defend the San Martin jersey for the rest of the season, but before he was able to do so for the 'celeste' and not precisely for Sporting Cristal. The goalkeeper said that he had an offer from Real Garcilaso, but he rejected it.
"At the end of the year, I didn't accept going to Garcilaso simply due to a personal issue. It goes beyond what they offered me. I wanted to wait for another team, but that situation fell through," commented the national goalkeeper to the program Capital Deportes.
Which team was Delgado waiting for? "I was hoping for Cristal... At some point, I started to think and said 'I should have gone' (to Garcilaso). This half of the year, when I missed football, I knew I wanted to be back in goal... I never thought about quitting football. I feel strong enough and well to play," he assured.
"Talking about Cristal is complicated. Until now, I don't understand why there is such opposition with me. I ended up at Municipal having a good year, I have been playing many matches. It surprises me, I'm not the one who should give a complete answer to that," added the new 'santo' goalkeeper.
