The painful defeat in the Champions League final against Real Madrid continues to be a bitter pill to swallow for Liverpool, led by German Jürgen Klopp. This time, the coach of the "reds" spoke about how goalkeeper Loris Karius' performance was compromised after a tough tackle from defender Sergio Ramos.
In statements to the British media during Liverpool's preseason, Klopp highlighted that Ramos' elbow to Karius' head severely affected his performance, which was considered inexplicable in the Champions League final.
"For me, it explains 100% his performance. It was influenced by that blow, that's for sure." Klopp said, also stating that it is not an excuse for the defeat, but rather an "explanation".
It is worth remembering that after the match in Kiev against Real Madrid, Loris Karius underwent a series of tests in the United States, where between 26 and 30 signs of concussion were found. The report stated that these had a direct impact on the performance of the "red" goalkeeper.
In the context of Liverpool's preseason, they will have a match against Chester City on Saturday, where Loris Karius has been called up and counts on the full support of coach Jürgen Klopp, who has emphasized that the incident in Kiev has already been overcome by the "red" team.
"From this point of view, everything is fine for me. We are no longer thinking about this and we start from scratch," Klopp pointed out.
