Lima. Sixty teams from across the country will be part of the Red Bull Soapbox Race 2014 and will downhill race their creative cars built by themselves.
The race, known worldwide as the Red Bull Soapbox Race, began in 2000 in Belgium and has been held in more than 30 countries on all five continents. From Australia to Colombia, this competition has become a classic. The cars range from very realistic replicas to the craziest designs, and to top off their performance before each race, participants must put on a show or parody, and even create their own music for the competition.
In the Red Bull Soapbox Race, not only speed is judged (although being a race, the first to arrive has its advantages, clearly), but also the creativity and personality of each vehicle, and the showmanship skills of the driver and each of their crew members. The team that reaches the finish line, puts more ingenuity, and manages to captivate the audience and the present jury, will go on a trip with their team to the 2014 Formula 1 Grand Prix in Brazil.
How to participate?
All of Peru can participate. Cars from Piura to Tacna will be protagonists of this spectacular competition.
Participating is simple: Teams must be made up of four (4) members, including the pilot. All vehicles must be powered by human force, that is, they cannot have motors or external sources of energy to move.
To apply, teams must download the registration form from the website www.redbullcarroslocos.pe, fill it out with their information, and draw the sketch of their vehicle on it. Then they must send their completed form and drawing scanned to [email protected] or deliver them personally to the Red Bull offices located at Av. Javier Prado Oeste #856, Magdalena.
