Nothing was saved. Rafael Márquez, defender of the Mexican national team, sent a strong message on his Instagram account after the Mexican team secured a spot in the round of 16 of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The veteran central defender responded to those who criticized the 'Tri' for losing 3-0 to Sweden in the final group stage match and advancing to the next round thanks to South Korea's 2-0 victory over Germany.
"We qualified for the round of 16! The mediocre ones who have never achieved anything in life will say that we made it by miracle, those of us who have accomplished something important in life say 'first objective fulfilled', and now let's work and continue improving to achieve our next goal or objective!" wrote 'Rafa' as a caption for a group table image.
Mexico advanced to the next round as the second-place team in Group F with six points, behind Sweden (1st) who also has six points but with a better goal difference.
