The Russian National Team came to the World Cup as the worst ranked country in the FIFA Ranking (considering only the teams qualified for the international tournament) and after a series of matches in which they couldn't achieve victory, their fans didn't have much faith in them.

However, the hosts of the World Cup surprised everyone and secured their place in the final with incredible numbers. The Europeans have managed to accumulate 6 points, score 8 goals, and only concede 1 in the 2 matches they have played so far.

With these figures, the Russian National Team surpassed what France achieved in the 1998 World Cup, when they finished the second round with 6 points, but only 7 goals scored (although none conceded).

Then comes Uruguay (1930), Switzerland (1954), Sweden (1958), Chile (1962), Germany (1974 and 2006), Argentina (1978), and Italy (1990); all with a perfect score, but with a goal difference much lower than the one achieved by the Russians.

The Russian National Team will conclude its participation in the group stage of the World Cup by facing Uruguay. The host team will only need to leave the field with a draw to finish first in Group A and await their opponent, which will be determined among Spain, Portugal, and Iran.
