Joachim Löw, coach of the German National Team, the current world champion, who will start the defense of the title this Sunday against Mexico, in the first game of Group F, said it will be "difficult to win a second consecutive World Cup"; but they are "hungry", that "everyone is ready", and that against the 'Tri' they want to "have a good start".
Coach Löw, born 58 years ago in Schönau im Schwarzwald (in the state of Baden-Württenberg), commented that it is difficult to win two World Cups in a row, but they are prepared and ready to maintain Germany's trend in their first matches in a World Cup, matches in which they have emerged victorious in the last seven.
"Between World Cups there are always changes, new players come in and things get modified. But we are still hungry", explained Löw on Saturday at the Luzhniki Stadium in the Russian capital, during the press conference prior to Sunday's match against the team led by Colombian Juan Carlos Osorio.
"Against Mexico we want to have a good start, but then we will see what happens", said the German coach, who when asked about forward Hirving Lozano (PSV Eindhoven), the young star of the Tri, replied, with some irony, that he hopes he "doesn't cause many problems" this Sunday.
"He is a great player, but so are the other wingers that Mexico has. They are dangerous and we will have to control all three of them, because they are all dangerous. It will be an important challenge for us", Löw commented.
"All our players are prepared and everyone is eager to get this started. They are all in good shape and ready to play. But, before announcing the lineup, obviously, I will have to speak with them", explained the German coach, who denied that the fact that Julian Draxler had just had a press conference before his own meant that he will be one of the starters.
"I don't choose who attends the press conferences. That is usually decided by other people", joked the German coach. "Julian was the captain of the team last year in the Confederations Cup, here in Russia, so I suppose that is why they brought him", he specified.
The last coach to lift a World Cup denied being "nervous" ahead of the imminent start of the main tournament for national teams. "But every coach has a positive tension before a tournament like this, regardless of what they have won", he stated.
