Peru tied 0-0 with Sweden, in what was their last preparation match prior to their participation in the 2018 World Cup. Most international media followed the friendly match live, especially the French, Brazilians, Argentinians, and Spaniards.

L'Equipe followed the match minute by minute because France is Peru's second opponent in the World Cup. The French newspaper highlighted that the national team couldn't show its offensive qualities, although they have gone 15 matches without losing.

The Globoesporte newspaper showed great interest in Paolo Guerrero's participation, who has played two matches with the national team after being cleared by the Swiss Federal Tribunal.

"After making a strong comeback to the Peruvian national team with two goals in the victory against Saudi Arabia, Guerrero had a lackluster performance in Sweden. He was well marked by the defenders and without the support of Carrillo and Farfan, who missed almost everything they tried. Paolo was defeated and couldn't do much," said the Brazilian newspaper Globoesporte.

The Olé newspaper tells the national team, "Welcome to the World Cup, Peru. The Tiger seems to have already chosen his tactics for the return of the Peruvian national team to a World Cup after 36 years. A defense of four, a double 5 with Yotun and Tapia, three attacking midfielders with Carrillo and Cueva on the wings and Farfan behind Guerrero."
