The meeting with FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, was "vital" for the decisions made by forward Paolo Guerrero, which allowed him to obtain a favorable resolution to his request to play in the 2018 World Cup with the Peruvian National Team, stated Edwin Oviedo, President of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF).

"That meeting was important, vital. It lasted more than an hour, almost two. It was a long and sincere conversation with President Infantino," stated Oviedo on Saturday to RPP, referring to the meeting held by the three on May 22 in Zurich.

The president of the FPF added that "many things were discussed" at the meeting, but highlighted "the sincerity and motivation" given by Infantino, who, according to him, "is also an admirer of Paolo Guerrero."

"We looked into Paolo's eyes, we left FIFA and immediately made the decisions that needed to be made. We took a taxi, went to get the lawyers, and a work plan was structured," emphasized Oviedo.

Oviedo also said that Paolo Guerrero's attitude was "extraordinarily professional" because he trained with a fitness coach throughout the resolution of his case.

"Today we can say that, thanks to God, our captain is already training. It gives me satisfaction to see him, after seven months, with that training jersey. It brought tears to my eyes. Justice has been served for Guerrero," he said.
