Juan Martin Del Potro (5th seed) is already looking for a place in the Roland Garros round of 16. He faces Spanish player Albert Ramos-Viñolas (31st seed) in a match that takes place at the Philippe-Chatrier stadium and will determine the opponent of the winner in the clash between American player John Isner (9th seed) and local player Pierre Hugues Herbert.

It took the tandilense a while to find his rhythm, especially in the Spanish player's service games. He saved the first break point against him with an ace in the fifth game of the match, with the score at 2-2. And only in the eighth game did he find a way to break Ramos' serve.

With a perfect return to his opponent's shoelaces, the score was 15-40 and Ramos made a double fault, giving Del Potro a 5-3 advantage.

Diego Schwartzman's great victory to advance to the round of 16 at Roland Garros

Del Potro served for the set and had a set point in his favor. But he didn't close it, and with a forehand that went long, he lost his serve. From 5-3 and set point, it went to 5-5, after another game (the fourth out of five played) won to love by the Spanish player.

After winning his service game convincingly with a good crosscourt backhand, a stroke of luck allowed Delpo to close the set: 6-5 up and with an advantage, a Spanish forehand that had a good dose of pepper hit the net and fell perfectly for Juan Martin, who had enough time to finish with a crosscourt shot that sealed the initial 7-5.

The tandilense is looking to join Diego Schwartzman (12th seed) in the round of 16, who gave another solid display this Saturday and beat Croatian player Borna Coric (40th seed) convincingly with a score of 7-5, 6-3, and 6-3.
