Maratón Movistar Lima 42k

This year, the Maratón Movistar Lima 42k celebrated its tenth edition with the participation of 20,000 local runners from countries such as Ecuador, Poland, Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, and France. They ran through five districts of the capital of Peru.

This time it was the turn of Kenyan Stephen Mburi Njoroge, who recorded a time of 2 hours, 17 minutes, and 49 seconds.

Nelson Ito Ccuro and Inés Melchor Huiza, from Team adidas, achieved outstanding performances. The athlete from Arequipa, once again, secured the third place for the second consecutive year, while Melchor became the champion for the 8th time in the 10k distance.

Start of the competition

The 42 kilometers and 195 meters started under a promising sun that guaranteed a tough race with a warm atmosphere, as thousands of fans cheered on the athletes throughout the course. African Stephen Mburi took advantage in the final meters. Erick Monyenye Mose, also from Kenya, finished in 2h, 21'16". Ito recorded a time of 2h 21'32".

In the women's category, the first two places were taken by Ethiopians Belanesh Zemedkun with 2h 50'55" and Misikir Demissie with 2h 59'20", and in third place, Colombian Paolo Andrea Ferro arrived with 2h 59'05".

The highest concentration of athletes was in the 10k. As expected, Inés Melchor confirmed her status as favorite and won convincingly with a time of 34 minutes and 34 seconds. The Peruvian runners Luz Mery Rojas (34'49") and Luisa Mejía (34'59") followed closely. In the men's category, the winner was Yuri Hedley Labra with 30'41", second place went to Walter Nina Naupa with 30'44", and third place was taken by Yerson Yuhuan with 30'46".

Meanwhile, in the Men's Half Marathon 21k, the winner was Jianpierre Castro (1h04'45"), followed by Juan Huamán Ccanto (1h04'58") and Jhon Cusi (1h05'24"). In the Women's category, Gladys Celia triumphed with a time of (1h15'19"), Clara Canchanya came in second (1h16'32"), and Thalia Valdivia finished third (1h18'12").
