Cienciano was the home of Freddy Ternero . The Peruvian coach, who won the Sudamericana and Recopa titles, died today at the age of 53, after battling cancer.
The Cusco team posted a message on their official Facebook account in remembrance of Ternero. "Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Freddy Ternero for their loss," they wrote.
"The entire Cienciano family is saddened by this tragic news and irreparable loss. Freddy, we will always remember you. You did so much for our beloved club, taking us to the glory of South American football," the post added.
"Thank you, Freddy, and may you rest in peace," the message concluded.
Other clubs also expressed their solidarity with the loss of Freddy Ternero , such as Universitario de Deportes and Sporting Cristal, to name a few. The Peruvian Football Professional Association (ADFP) also paid tribute.
