The Napoli fought, but couldn't stop Juventus in Serie A
The Napoli gave their all, but ultimately couldn't prevent another Serie A title for Juventus. The Naples team came close to ending 'La Vecchia Signora's' dominance and with only one match left in the tournament, they were four points behind Juventus. Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri explained his team's disappointment and when, in his opinion, they lost the title.
According to Sarri, the turning point came in the 35th round, when Juventus came back to defeat Inter in two minutes and win 3-2. That same night, explains the coach, his players couldn't sleep, they couldn't assimilate the blow that put 'La Juve' at the top, and the next day they were heavily defeated 3-0 by Fiorentina.
"I regret that we lost the championship at the hotel and not on the field (...) What else should we have done to win the title? Go to sleep earlier the night before the match against Fiorentina. The team suffered a setback after the Inter-Juventus match due to how the game went," said Maurizio Sarri.
"We need to improve our mentality and sensitivity, but the league also needs to improve: in the last 16 matches, we have played 14 after Juventus. I don't know if they are the strongest team, but they are the most powerful from all points of view," added the coach.
