Mackenzie Dern arrived at the UFC with the great responsibility of being considered the new Ronda Rousey. But the American fighter showed this Saturday, at UFC 224 in Brazil, that she is determined to make a name for herself inside the octagon.

The days leading up to UFC 224 were not easy for Mackenzie Dern, who had a mishap in her first face-off with Amanda Cooper. And later exceeded the required weight for the fight at the official weigh-in.

And even though she had to give a percentage of her purse for Amanda Cooper to accept the fight, Mackenzie Dern showed inside the UFC 224 cage that none of this managed to distract her from her goal.

When the second round of the fight was underway, both fighters began to exchange blows in the center of the octagon. Until Mackenzie Dern landed a brutal right hook, and then took Cooper to the ground.

Demonstrating the powerful jiu-jitsu that led her to win eight world titles, Mackenzie Dern managed to secure a flawless rear-naked choke that forced Amanda Cooper to tap. Thus, the American fighter with Brazilian roots achieved her second victory in UFC and extended her undefeated record to 7-0.
