Jupp Heynckes
The coach of Bayern Munich, Jupp Heynckes, listed on Monday in a press conference what the keys are to winning the Champions League, stating that they are "having a lot of talent, good players, luck in the draw, and a suitable referee."
The German coach will visit his former home for the second time as a coach since leaving Real Madrid in 1998 after leading the club to their seventh European Cup. When asked about the key for their rival to always perform well in the top European competition, Heynckes was clear:
"We have won the sixth consecutive Bundesliga title and we are happy, but not that much. You get used to it. It's similar at Real Madrid. They have won three of the last four Champions Leagues and you also get a little used to it. If you want to win the Champions League, you must have a lot of talent, good players, luck in the draw, and a suitable referee," he said.
He also had a message for the referee of the match and stated that he hopes they are "objective and correct" and that it is the players who decide the result and not "the linesmen or the referee."
